Zipping by...

Man. I really am the ultimate slacker. I haven't updated since CHRISTMAS?! And it's MARCH! I guess the island life is really rubbing off on me. I stay on island time!

Here's a what I you've missed in my absence from the blog:
Our first Hawaiian Christmas was spent with family, which really helped since it was our first holiday away from all our loved ones. I got to experience a beautiful Christmas sunrise and we were gifted with a rainbow.

For New Year's Eve, we didn't even go very far--just to the beach that is in our neighborhood. We celebrated with the hubs' cousin and her bf. From our beach, we saw fireworks from Hickam AFB, and downtown Honolulu across from Pearl Harbor.

In January, we went with our friends to go see Sir Elton John at the Blaisdell Center. I don't care who you are... Elton John is THE MAN! He played for 2 hours straight. Amazeballs.

You're all almost caught up. I have one more update, but that requires its own post.

A little Sunshine State cheer.

Are any of you guys as addicted to Pinterest as I am? I thought so. That's where I saw the pinspiration (that's right, I made that up on the spot) for this project. It's actually the first thing I've made from a pin that I saw on Pinterest since I've joined.

I've been missing my FL peeps a lot, especially now during the holidays. I decided that our new home needed a touch of sunshine from our old home. So what do you get with a 2-foot square piece of plywood, a couple of sheets of vinyl, a can of spray paint, a few dabs of red acrylic paint, some satin varnish, 4 packs of nails, a hammer, and a skein of crochet thread?

This:
[Yes, I totally spray painted our grass. But not to worry! The hubs has since mowed and all is right with our lawn again.]
[Home is where the heart is. And in our case, home is where our family and friends are.]
[Adding some satin shine.]
[Nailed it.]
[Strung it.]
LOVE IT.

I can't wait to hang it up.

Our Christmas Card

With the exception of one Christmas, I've custom designed our card every year. This year's card was the first time that the hubs and I have taken a picture. And since it's been a heck of a year, this card is also the first with a little recap. [Click on a pic to view it in its larger size.]
Enjoy! And Mele Kalikimaka from Two Weas in a Pod! ♥

Happiness.

It's the first day of a new month--the last month of 2011! This year has flown by at warp speed. Today is not just any other day... it will forever be known as the day that I paid off my loan! It's been four years in the making, but it is the most amazing feeling! I'm thanking the Lord for getting me through this.

(side note... They seriously need to offer a course in high school to properly educate you about credit and credit cards. Now THAT is a life class that's necessary! It would have saved me years of stupidity!)

This seriously is THE greatest Christmas present that I could have ever given to myself and the hubs. It's the most amazing feeling!!

Slacker.

Horrible blogger, party of one... Sorry for the lack of posting. Things have been pretty busy over here. Here's a recap of what went on in October.
Picked up a part-time job at a local craft store. It's been a month, I survived my first 40% Off Coupon wekend and I'm still alive. And I still like it. Ask me again if I still like it after the holidays are over. hahaha

Chuck's sister and her hubby came out to visit. They were here for his work and decided to stay an extra few days. We had a blast showing them around the island. And finally...
We moved into our own place! It's not much, but it's home for us for a while. We are in the flyover zone for the airport, but we've gotten used to it. Even the pup. He's a pro now. It doesn't even phase him anymore.

So here's to new beginnings! I'll try to update more often. Aloha for now, friends!
