JFC - Day 17 Beautiful

I'm so sorry for the lack of posting! I've been so busy with work (but PTL for that!) that I haven't had the chance to keep up with my journaling! Yesterday was the last day, but I'm only up to Day 20. I'm playing catch-up again here on the blog. Here is my Day 17.

Day 17: Focus on something beautiful
She's the strongest person I know. My mother is the epitome of beautiful, inside and out. She's selfless and loving. I only hope I'm half the mother to my kids as she is for my brothers and I. I'm blessed to be able to call this beautiful lady... my mother.

JFC Day 16

For Day 16, we were prompted to dedicate a whole page to our pet or pets. The hubs and I have a doggie and his name is Mushu (but we usually call him Moosh, Mooshbud, Buddy, and Pumpkin).

Day 16: Pet Page
Mushu: This is our cowardly dog, Mushu. When people hear that name, they usually think of the food dish...but he was actually named after this little guy from Mulan (for sentimental reasons). He's a big pansy, but I really can't imagine our lives without him. He's become our four-legged child. ♥

Playing Catch-up

Man, I've been slacking on my journaling and posting! (There went goal #1...) But thankfully I have caught up. I left off at day 3 and it's now day 14 (!) of the challenge, so I won't bombard this post with all of my missing journal pages. You can check them out on my flickr set. I'll leave you with 3 of my favorites.

Day 4: What does happiness mean to you?

Day 7: Today I am thankful for...

Day 13: Childhood Dreams

Please go and check out the rest of my entries on flickr. I'd love to hear what you think! =)

JFC - Day Trois

Day three! Day three! Wheeee! For day three, we had to alter a repeating image. I really didn't know what to do, but gave it a shot!
I kinda cheated on the very last one. I was running out of steam, if you can tell! But I still stuck to my goal of journaling every day...so far so good!

JFC - Dia numero Dos

It's Day 2 of my journaling journey. Today's prompt: What are your journal goals?

My Journal Goals
1. Be Consistent: Journal daily
2. Be Honest: Especially to yourself!
3. Make New Friends: Always encourage others
4. Have Fun: Get those creative juices goin'!

I decided to use a spot color to highlight. I picked up this set of chalk markers that were on sale a while back from Michael's. I haven't had the chance to actually use them, so I thought I'd give them a shot. I like the finish that it leaves...it really does look like chalk! You'll probably be seeing a lot more of these markers in my journal entries.

I thought about today's prompt for a while. I didn't know how to go about illustrating it for myself, then I realized that these upcoming journaling for 30 days is going to be more of a journey for me. So I've set up my goals as a map to guide me, with "X" marking the spot to the treasure, which is what I'm going to have in this journal. I can look back on this journal years down the road, even share it with my children. So here's to sticking to the goals that I've set out for me. How about you? What goals have you set out for your journal?

On your mark, get set, GO!

Today is Day 1 of Janel's Journaling for a Cause! I'm so excited to finally start the class. I've been waiting to start and now it's here.

As an intro to our journals, Day 1 is a "Welcome" page. We had to include a blurb with five adjectives describing life as it is right now for us. Here's my page:
Welcome to my semi-charmed, creative, lovely, fun, and Always Blessed life♥

I'm been in a slump lately... It's times like these that I miss having my creative bestie here. But I'm hoping this is the start of the creative spark I've been needing. I can't wait to see what others in the class come up with. If you're in this with me, please share! =)

A little art therapy

I did a bit of journaling during our trip, mostly on the plane and during downtimes. It's based on Janel's 30-Day Journal Challenge prompts. I was inspired and it's great practice for Journaling for a Cause that starts on Monday. Here are a couple of the pages that I did.
You can view the rest of my journal pages here. And make sure you check out Janel's flickr pool for others' 30-Day Challenge journal pages as well as pages for the upcoming Journaling for a Cause. Hope you enjoy! =)

Journaling for a Cause

I've just joined Journaling for a Cause. It's an online class that's getting ready to start up, hosted by Janel over at Run With Scissors. I'm so excited to participate. I missed out on Janel's 30-Day Journal Challenge, so I was pumped to find out she's starting this class. As the title states, it's for a good cause: Janel and her husband are planning to adopt in the next year or two and the sign-up fees generated from this class will go towards their savings for the adoption expenses!

The class will run for 30 days and there will be a journal prompt and challenge every day. I'm hoping this will help me get out of my norm and push me creatively. Hopefully it will transcend over to my design process for my everyday work. It's also a great way to make new blog friends, to be inspired and supported by others. So if you're interested in Journaling for a Cause, head on over to Janel's etsy shop and secure your spot!

Quiet Nights: 3 & 4

Man, I'm slacking on my art journaling! The class is already at day 9 of 15 and I've only done 4...But that's what makes Quiet Nights so great. I go at my own pace and I'm so inspired by the others in this class and their entries. Everyone is so creative...SO much stuff to be inspired with.

Day 3: Be Still My Heart
I didn't really know what to journal about this. Then I thought about when we first got our dog when he was a puppy. How he just took my heart and ran and never gave it back. Such a pansy, but we love him.
Mushu Wea
Be Still My Heart
How could you NOT love that face?

Day 4: Wishes
This image I found was perfect... I love how she's holding the world in her hands. And I left room to add to this list.
Wishes
My Wish List
- To be living in HI
- More time with my father
- Quality time with my loves
- To be a mom
- Warmer days
- More craft time
- A real honeymoon

Today was the perfect day to journal. It's so crappy outside. But I had work to do. Oh well. There's plenty of time and plenty for me to catch up with!

When you're inspired...

...you just have to keep going! Quiet Nights Assignment 2: Blissful.

When I hear the word blissful, the first thing that comes to mind is quality time with my husband. Second thing that comes to mind is Hawaii, of course. So, inspired by my bliss, I give you:
Oahu, HI
Where we always
dream to be. We
are most content
here. There's
just no better
place. Here
with my love,
is where I am
the most...
BLISSFUL.

Escape

First assignment from Polka Dot Robot's Quiet Nights art journal class: Escape. It was pretty appropriate for my first day not having a "real job." I'm pretty excited to keep up with these assignments. Wanna see what I did? Well, here you go:

 Escape

[ih-SKEYP]
(verb)
To slip or get away, as from confinement or restraint; gain or regain liberty.
---------------------------------------
TODAY is the
first day since I
E • S • C • A • P • E • D
from a 9-5...
---------------------------------------
...oh, the possibilities...

Here are some of the page details:
(I'm really into the flourishes right now, I guess. I got my Japanese masking tape from Ginko Papers, in case you were wondering.)

(I love this yellow and white bake's twine I had on hand. It went really well with my color scheme. And the paper airplane pattern on this scrapbook paper--LOVE! It came from Cosmo Cricket's The Boyfriend Collection.)

(It's amazing the amount of inspiration you can find in a magazine.)

So there you have it! This was so much fun and therapeutic! I'm actually late on starting the second assignment. Thankfully this is a go-at-your-own-pace class. My kind of class! Stay tuned for Assignment Two!

More Lovey Dovey-ness.

I started art journaling. I even joined this to get me even more motivated. This class hasn't officially started yet, but I couldn't wait. Here's my first page. =)

Companion. Lover.
Comforter. Fortress.
Shelter. Hero.
Husband.
BEST FRIEND.

LOVE this man of mine.
